Terms and Conditions

Object of Agreement

Below is a summary of the terms and conditions for the services provided by Parlando.  We reserve the right to make any changes necessary in order to better serve our students.
We do not concede the right to make any claim for damages if, due to a force majeure, we are forced to cancel lessons or activities.  However, we will try our best to reschedule services that have been already paid for.  This does not apply when a student falls ill after the course or another service has started.
If we find it necessary to cancel a course you are enrolled in, you will be reimbursed for the lessons and services we were unable to give.
No further claims will be considered.

Your enrollment to Parlando takes effect as soon as your completed application form is sent to us, either by mail or by fax.  We will then send you a written confirmation, thereby making the agreement binding for both sides.

For minors, the signature of a legal guardian is required to make the enrollment binding.

Payments should be made in full by the starting date of the course you have enrolled in.  You are responsible for all bank transaction fees.
Course fees are to be paid in euros to the following bank account:

Beneficiary: Ulrike Schulte Overberg
Postbank Berlin
Account Number. 583457106
Bank Code: 10010010
IBAN: DE43100100100583457106

Entry Requirements and Visa

For citizens of the European Union an identity card is fully sufficient. Many non-EU citizens need a visa. For further details, please contact the German Embassy or a German Consulate in your home country.

If you are staying with a host family, please tell us in advance the exact date and time of your arrival and departure so that we can coordinate this with the family.

Special Requests

When you enroll, please let us know of any special needs or requests you might have.  We try to take all of our students' needs in consideration, especially in regard to religious and personal health matters.

Changes in Booking

Changes should be submitted to Parlando in writing. You can change your course up to two weeks before it begins at no extra cost.  For changes made afterwards, we are forced to charge a processing fee of € 50.00.

Cancellations are free of charge up to two weeks before the beginning of the course. They must be communicated in writing to the contractor. Any later cancellations will incur a charge of 150 euro. For cancellations after the beginning of the course, a cancellation period of 10 days (Friday to Monday) applies.  Course fees which have already been paid will be reimbursed, banking and postage fees deducted.

We nor our host families are able to take full responsibility for minors attending Parlando. However, if problems do occur, we promise to immediately inform the parents or legal guardians of the situation.

Damage to Property

A person who willfully damages objects or treats objects improperly, or who acts in defiance of our staff's instruction, will be held fully responsible by Parlando.  This applies to classroom areas, accommodation, as well as places where extracurricular activities are held by our staff.

Minimum Number of Participants

The minimum number of participants in our courses is three.

Leisure Time Activities

All students can take part in our leisure activities.  However, no claims for compensation can be made should extracurricular activities and lessons conflict (see lesson schedule)

Lesson Schedule

Intensive courses of twenty-five teaching units are usually held in the morning.  In case of high demand we may be forced to carry morning lessons over to the afternoon.

School Location

Lessons are usually held in our rooms at Linienstr. 126, 10115 Berlin.  However, we reserve the right to relocate lessons to another suitable place nearby if necessary.

Duration of Lessons

One teaching unit lasts 45 minutes.  A session of private instruction is usually made up of at least two consecutive teaching units.  This does not apply to students of intensive courses who book additional private instruction.

If you find it necessary, we will take out a health, accident, and third party insurance policy for you. This policy, which covers emergency situations only, is valid during your stay in Germany and the European Union.  One week of insurance costs €7.50; one month costs €29.50.

Public Holidays

On public holidays we offer field trips and excursions in place of lessons.   This does not apply to private lessons.

We reserve the right to make changes in our programme, as long as the changes do not disadvantage our students.  All information provided on this website was valid on the day of publication (June 20th, 2006).  All disputes arising hereunder will be settled before a competent court of law in Berlin, Germany.

If students have to miss classes by any reason there is no claim of refund or making up for it on the part of Parlando.
